Hi Everybody,

I just learned that Mike Mello has been moved to the Kaiser Rehabilitation Center in Vallejo.  This is what Mike needs to help him get better.  Unfortunately it has been over a week since I have been able to see Mike but I expect to see him on Thursday.

I appreciated the updates from Brent Dorey and Brad LaPoint who have been able to visit Mike.  I hear Mike is trying very hard to speak and communicate but is in the process of re-learning how to speak.  Sally reports that Mike was a bit bored and frustrated with being stuck in the hospital in Sacramento.  We look forward to seeing Mike’s progress at the rehab center, we expect him to remain in this hospital for a month or so.  Mike is enjoying the visits from his friends.

Reminder to all: For those officials who have been downgraded due to lacking a clinic, there’s only 1 week left of the grace period for making up the clinic. For those unable to attend an in-person clinic, the online quiz is being used. It requires submission of a hardship application (attached) and approval of the regional representative.

Please pass this along to all downgraded officials in your regions, so that we can reinstate as many of them as possible. Or better yet, go through the list that Melanie sent out last December and make a personal plea to those who you haven’t heard from yet. We need our officials and should encourage them to remain active!

Hello All, I am Sally and Mikes Brother In-law, I want to thank all of you during this very sad, confusing, shocking and life changing time. We all, especially Sally appreciates all your prayers and well wishing, Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I have a favor to ask of all of you, Mike and Sally’s dear friends. Sally is in complete overwhelm with very tough decisions moment by moment, she is doing her best to stay strong and clear. She is getting hundreds of texts which bring up the emotions. While she appreciates the love and support, we would like to ask her friends to hold off texting her directly at this time.

Please post your thoughts and well wishes to her Facebook page where she can read them at a later time. If you need to have a direct update on Mikes condition please use my wife, Sally’s sister, Nancy’s phone to access information. 916-501-8137. We appreciate your understanding at this very troubling time. Again thank you all for your love and support for the Mello’s. Please keep Mike and Sally in your prayers.

The Fact Sheet and Entry Form for the 12th Junior U.S. Open Water Ski Championships are now available to download from the USA Water Ski Web site. The 2012 Junior U.S. Open, a two-round world-record capability tournament, will be held June 2-3 at the Lake of Dreams in Jerseyville, Ill. There will be four divisions: Boys, Girls, Junior Men and Junior Women. Boys and Girls must have been born in the year 1995 or more recently. Junior Men and Junior Women must have been born between 1990 and 1994 inclusive.

The deadline to enter is 5 p.m. (EDT) on May 14.
